About IBPSS
The International Bladder & Prostate Symptom Score (IBPSS) is an evolutionary step forward from the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) for men with LUTS attributed to BPH.

1
“Bladder” is added to the title to ensure its role in clinical dialogue.
2
The IPSS and QoL questions are left unchanged.
3
The IPSS questions are reordered to reflect the “voiding and storage subscores.”
4
The total scores for the IPSS and the IBPSS are identical.
5
Questions for “Urgency Urinary Incontinence” and “Acute Retention” are added.
6
A “Sexual Health” question is added to reflect its importance to men.
7
The questions are arranged vertically to mirror the progression of bladder disease experienced by patients, the Man vs Prostate 5 Stages of Bladder Health.
IBPSS helps patients, and their providers, assess where they fall within the MVP 5 Stages of Bladder Health, allowing them to better inform patients of the appropriate next steps.
